There are many badges for school that need to be acquired on an annual basis. As the Grade 5’s and Grade 12’s move on to greater things, the prefects go with them. Every year new prefects as well as head prefects need to be chosen to assist the teachers in controlling learners in the schools. These prefects need new badges and the badges cannot simply be passed down from one year to the next. Most prefects also prefer to keep their badges so that they can remember their leadership qualities and the other characteristics that got them chosen as prefects in the first place. Make sure you choose badges that are hard wearing and will last not only one year but for a life time.

Engraved plaques
If you are dedicating a building or structure to a certain person or event, an engraved plaque will be necessary. The plaque can depict details of the dedication such as the date of the dedication, who or what the structure has been dedicated to and why the dedication was made. This will ensure that the dedication will last in people’s memories for time immemorial. Thus it is important to choose a material that will last a long time and not tarnish or corrode no matter what the elements that it will have to endure. It is also important to ensure that the correct information is displayed on the plaque so that people will understand the dedication.

Enamel badges come in a variety of shapes and makes. The main categories of enamel badges are briefly described below:
- Soft enamel badges are normally used for social events and are cheaper than hard badges.
- Hard enamel badges are robust in design and provide a polished look. The badges are suitable for long term use.
- Printed types are used when the design is too complicated for stamp badges. They come in silver, bronze, and gold. The printed enamel badges can be more colourful than the stamped types.
- Stamped types – normally in gold or silver with metallic finishes and a glossy polished look – suitable for less complicated designs.
- PVC types are made from polyvinyl chloride materials and are extremely soft. These types of badges are normally worn by teenagers for fun.
- Pewter types can be used for complex designs and since pewter lends itself to easy moulding the pewter type is perfect for a modern complex design.
