In 1872, the belt was put aside for the prestigious Claret Jug given to the winner of The Golf Champion Trophy<\/a>. The original trophy was awarded to the winners until 1927, when the original was put on permanent display at the Royal and Ancient Golf Club at St. Andrews. The winner of the 1928 championship was awarded a replica of the Claret Jug.<\/p>\n
