Meritorious Awards and Trophies for Scholars<\/strong><\/p>\n

Competition is as healthy and beneficial at school level, as it is in business. Winning and being awarded a trophy is extremely satisfying to young winners \u2013 motivating them to strive for even higher levels of achievement. Losing teaches scholars about good sportsmanship, and the value of perseverance and practice.<\/p>\n

Although the first seven years of a child\u2019s life are known as the formative years, which largely determine the person that they will become one day as an adult, children continue to learn and grow throughout their schooling and beyond.<\/p>\n

Young minds really are like sponges, soaking up information and life lessons, one of them being that \u201cwhatever you put in, is what you get out\u201d, or as golfer Gary Player was reputed to have said \u201cthe more I practice, the luckier I become\u201d, when told that he was very lucky to have won top golfing awards and sought-after trophies.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s important that young, malleable persons receive recognition and accolades, such as awards and trophies \u2013 rewards for exceptional achievements at school, for which they\u2019ve undoubtedly had to train, study or otherwise work hard for \u2013 the fruits of and tangible rewards for their labours.<\/p>\n

Children are naturally competitive, liking nothing better than being placed well or first in an individual or team sporting or class competition. Consequently, most school awards and trophies are either for academic or sporting achievements.<\/p>\n

Award policies and practices at schools may vary greatly. Before the advent of the internet and its extensive use as a research, information and learning medium, many schools presented books as prizes for top scholars.
