How Does Laser Engraving Work?
Founded on Einstein’s theory of radiation and expanded upon by Bill Lawson, laser engraving is a process that vaporises the top layer of material, leaving a cavity. Before starting, an image needs to be sent to the machine via a computer where it is transformed into a number of dots and spaces that will create the completed design. The laser beam creates a high heat that starts to burn or evaporate the surface of the material according to the image, creating a cavity. To form deeper marks or multiple surface effects, this process is repeated numerous times.
